Not only does my 4-month-old kitten, Squirt, absolutely adore this toy—he’s been stalking and playing with it nonstop since we got it—but my family and I love it too! One of the best features is the sound level. It’s loud enough to hear but not so loud that it becomes annoying. It stays in the background, allowing us to have conversations or watch TV without being constantly reminded of the chirping. It’s the perfect balance of engaging for the cat and unobtrusive for the humans.
Another huge plus is that it’s rechargeable and comes with a USB charging cord. You’ll need a 5V charging block (which we already had), but it’s a small detail that didn’t bother us at all.
We also appreciate that the toy doesn’t chirp constantly. It only chirps when the cat is actively playing with it, and even then, it takes 15-30 second breaks between chirps. This randomness keeps Squirt interested, as he loses interest quickly with toys that have predictable patterns.
At first, I thought the bird might be too big for him, but Squirt proved me wrong. He bats it around like a little Viking warrior and has no problem picking it up in his mouth. The fabric is soft and fuzzy but doesn’t shed, so I don’t have to worry about him ingesting any loose fibers.
The only potential issue I foresee is with the bird’s feet and tail feathers. Squirt is a little destructor and has already taken a liking to chewing on them. Over time, I might need to trim these parts if they become a hazard, but so far, it hasn’t been a problem.
Overall, this toy has been a lifesaver for us. Squirt is a handful, and keeping him entertained 24/7 is a challenge. This toy has made a huge difference, and we’ll definitely keep it in rotation with his other toys. If it ever wears out, I won’t hesitate to buy the bird duo as a replacement.
